It's Time to Change
Well my subject line says it all. I've been with LJ for several years, and
most of that time has been as a permanent member. Sadly, over the last
several months, LiveJournal has shown time after time that their users, and
the stability of their site doesn't matter. They've had more Denial of
Service attacks than I can count, and every indication is that they're doing
nothing to try to prevent things like this from happening in the future.
Also, if you follow the LiveJournal account on Twitter, you'll see a very
high emphasis on their contests and things rather than on site stability.
I've defended LJ in the past, and given them the benefit of the doubt many
times. I just can't do it anymore. If I saw that there was a noticeable
effort being made to improve things that'd be different. Unfortunately, to
me, this just isn't the case.
So, as of this morning, I've decided to make the move over to the new and
growing Dreamwidth Studios site. At the
moment, to join this community you do need to provide an invite code, and I
don't have any of them currently. However, many of the features that LJ
currently requires you to pay for are free with Dreamwidth. And? Best of
all? No annoying advertisements on the pages if you choose to have a free
account! So, all my entries and pictures have been imported to Dreamwidth,
and you can bookmark this page
to continue following my not so frequent entries.
I've really had a good time here on LiveJournal, and I've met so many truly
fabulous people here, but the time has come for a change. I hope to see
people over on Dreamwidth in the very near future.
