What a day. Originally, I was going to be home all day, doing work from here. Things never seem to go quite the way they're planned though. The other day I found out that I'd be going on a bit of a road trip. Cool. I always like those so I figured it'd be fun. As it turned out, it was, but there was a bit of a surprise. I ended up having to go to the office in the afternoon to make things a bit easier transportation-wise. So, this morning, a little bit before 9:00, I called Bruce to tell him that I wasn't going to be home until after 5:00. We were both looking forward to today for several reasons, and it was a bit disappointing when things didn't go the way I wanted them to go. I was kept really busy for most of the day, and although I missed every opportunity that I normally had to call Bruce, I finally got to send him some emails in the afternoon. The best thing happened though when I got home. I knew about this, but only because circumstances pretty much made it impossible for Bruce to keep the secret. Even so, it was still a great thing to find waiting for me when I got home. For part of my Valentine's Day gift, he arranged for me to receive 30 tulips. So, the advantage of my coming home late was that I was able to call him before opening the box so he got to be a part of that with me. Sappy? Maybe, but it meant a lot to me that he was able to share that moment with me.
So, even though part of the day didn't go exactly the way I'd wanted it to go, it still turned out to be a good and productive day and that to me is what matters in the end.
And, for anyone who's curious, the other part of my gift from Bruce was a sweatshirt featuring, proud and center, a logo from Corner Gas. It's going to be a great thing to wear on those days when I'm really super cold. I love it!!
