A Little Bit of Food Talk

Well, it's time to talk turkey again. Okay, so actually it's hamburger, but
what's the difference, right? Okay okay!! So there's a big difference, but
whatever. I'm talking about my meal for tonight. I'm going to be making good
use of the crock pot again, this time with a .

MAGIC CROCK POT MEATLOAF

  • 2 lb. ground chuck

  • 1/2 c. green pepper, chopped

  • 1/2 c. onion, chopped

  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 c. cracker crumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 1 (7/8 oz.) pkg. brown gravy mix

  • 1 c. milk

  • 6-8 sm. potatoes, cut up

Mix all ingredients except potatoes in large bowl. Shape into a loaf and
place in the crock pot. Place potatoes at the sides of loaf. (If potatoes
are peeled,
wrap in foil to keep from darkening.) Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours
or high 4-6 hours.

Then, I'm going to be even more domestic and stuff and make a .

Chocolate cake and icing

  • 1 chocolate cake mix

  • 2 beaten eggs

  • 1 capful almond extract, optional

  • 1 can cherry pie filling

Beat eggs and add cherries and cake mix and then mix. Bake in 9 by 13 pan
at 350 for 30 minutes or so or until cake is done in the middle. The
toothpick method doesn't really work because of the moistness of the
cherries, so I just use the tip of my finger and when the cake feels kind of
springy, it is done.

Frosting

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1/3 cup milk

  • 5 tablespoons butter

Cook for one minute after it comes to a boil. Add one cup chocolate chips
and beat and add nuts if you wish. I use walnuts or pecans, but the
frosting is just as good without them.

I can't wait to try both of these recipes because they both sound so
good!!!!. Normally I wait until after I've tried a recipe to post it, but
not this time. The meatloaf I got from a list, and the cake I got from
someone in a chat room. Now, if only the dishwasher would stop so that I can
take the crock out of it and get things started ...
