Yay!!!!! ... And Other News

Most of you guys probably won't even give a rip about this entry, but I'm excited so wanted to post. Okay, keep in mind that sometimes even the littlest things get me excited. SMILE!

In today's mail I got two things that I've been waiting for; my new checks and my new debit card. So, that totally made my day. Like I said, sometimes it's the little things.

In other news, I'm obviously not traveling today like I thought I would be. There's been so much going on at the office lately that things are kind of getting behind. So, the conference that we were going to go to today was something that we just had to skip. I'm still going out tomorrow though, and in fact my ride is coming to pick me up at about 6:30 AM. We've got a booth in the morning, and then I'm going to be giving a half-hour presentation in the afternoon. The topic? You don't have to be afraid of technology. This is another pretty important one for me for a couple of reasons. The biggest reason is that this event is being sponsored by the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired and I've been a member of the Council for almost two and a half years now. Also, this presentation is supposed to inform, not necessarily sell products. So, I have to be informative, somewhat entertaining, and do my best to represent not only the company I work for but also the Council. The good thing is that I really feel good about this one. I've got my outline created and ready to emboss unless I decide to just put it on my PAC Mate, but I really think I'd rather have a hard copy but I'm not sure. (And, if that wasn't a run-on sentence I don't know what is. SMILE!) Then, tomorrow night the Council has a meeting, and then we're meeting again on Saturday for a good part of the day. So, it's another overnight trip.

Yesterday was really humid here. I took out the filter for the air conditioner and rinsed it out. It's amazing how gross that thing gets sometimes. I was really hot, and slept with the ceiling fan on medium last night. Today they said that it's supposed to be in the low 80s, and the high humidity is continuing, so I actually turned on the AC this morning. So, at least I'm comfortable, for the time being anyway.

I haven't seen Taz or Cally in a while so I suspect they're sleeping. It's about time since they both like to walk around on my desk while I'm working and it makes things a little difficult sometimes. I've got to change the bucket on their box today since there's not enough room to get them through until Saturday night or Sunday, so that'll probably get them interested in me again.

Oh, I almost forgot. I'm finally getting a new wireless card for my PAC Mate. My Ambicom bit the dust a few months ago; (yes, it was practically brand new but it was past the time when I could exchange it), so a new card was ordered for me on Tuesday. I got to call it a work expense so didn't have to pay for it myself, so that's definitely a good thing.

Well, I think I'm going to go take care of the box, and then I'm going upstairs to help someone update their ID Mate to the latest version of the database. Then I'm going to take the bus out to visit a friend again so I'll be gone for a good part of the night. Oh, and I need to set the VCR to record "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" because it's a two-hour show tonight and I'm not sure if it'll be on at the house tonight. Apparently someone's actually going to try for the million dollar question this time. This should be interesting. So, I'm gone for now. Later everyone!

  • It's Time to Change

Well my subject line says it all. I've been with LJ for several years, and most of that time has been as a permanent member. Sadly, over the last…

  • Trivia for Thursday

I did not like these questions today! So, the fact that I got my second 10/10 of the week was definitely a nice surprise. Here are the questions.

  • Wednesday Trivia

8/10 for me today. I don't know my dimes or my war history. Here are the questions.
